Februar 2023 GTI Treffen Mai 2023 - Großevents in der Gemeinde Maria Wörth

Die Gemeinde Maria Wörth war viele Jahre lang Austragungsort des GTI-Treffens. Die Geschichte dieses Großevents ist untrennbar mit dem Ortsteil Reifnitz verbunden und hat unserer Gemeinde viele Begegnungen, große Bekanntheit und nicht zuletzt auch wirtschaftliche Impulse gebracht.

Gleichzeitig hat der enorme Teilnehmeranstieg über die Jahre auch immer deutlicher die Grenzen des möglichen Wachstums und der Belastbarkeit unserer Gemeinde und der gesamten Wörthersee-Region aufgezeigt. Zahlreiche Begleiterscheinungen des Automobilevents haben zu zunehmender Kritik und abnehmender Akzeptanz des ährlichen Treffens geführt. Die Restriktionen in den Pandemiejahren haben das GTI-Treffen nun drei Mal entfallen lassen. Die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels, die Verantwortung der politischen Entscheider für den Erhalt der Öko-Systeme und die Notwendigkeit, das Handeln auf allen Ebenen nach den Prinzipien der Nachhaltigkeit auszurichten machen es erforderlich, die Zukunftsgestaltung unter neue Prämissen zu stellen.

Auf der Grundlage dieser Überlegungen halten wir fest, dass die Gemeinde Maria Wörth in den nächsten Jahren keine konventionellen Automobil-Großevents mehr ausrichten wird.

Reifnitz 2030 - Nachhaltig leben am See

Die Gemeinde Maria Wörth hat in den letzten Jahren intensive Konzept- und Planungsarbeiten für die Gestaltung der Zukunft des Ortsteils Reifnitz durchgeführt und einen umfassenden Transformationsprozess eingeleitet. In den nächsten Jahren werden im Zuge der Umsetzung des Ortsentwicklungsprogramms „Reifnitz 2030 | Nachhaltig leben am See" einige der bisher für Großevents genutzten Areale einer neuen Bestimmung zugeführt und neue Einrichtungen geschaffen.

Bürgermeister Markus Perdacher: ,,Im Sinne von Localhood arbeiten wir daran, attraktive und nachhaltige Lebensräume zu schaffen, die allen Menschen zugutekommen, die sich in der Gemeinde aufhalten - unabhängig davon, ob sie ein paar Tage dort verbringen oder ein ganzes Leben."

Der Bürgermeister von Maria Wörth zeigt sich nach dem Rückzug der Gemeinde aus dem GTI-Treffen für künftige Entwicklungen offen: ,,Gerne prüfen wir auch in Zukunft Vorschläge und Ideen für Veranstaltungen in unserer Gemeinde, werden aber abwägen, inwieweit sie mit unseren Vorstellungen von sozialer und ökologischer Verträglichkeit übereinstimmen und hohe Nachhaltigkeitsstandards erfüllen. In diesem Sinne sind und bleiben wir weiterhin mit der Mobilitätsindustrie im Gespräch, die genauso wie wir als Gemeinde dem tiefgreifenden Wandel in Richtung Ökologie und Nachhaltigkeit Rechnung tragen muss.

February 2023 GTI Meeting May 2023 - Major Events in the Municipality of Maria Wörth

For many years, the municipality of Maria Wörth has been the venue for the GTI Meeting. The history of this major event is inseparably linked to the district of Reifnitz and has brought numerous encounters, widespread recognition, and, not least, economic impulses to our community.

At the same time, the significant increase in participants over the years has increasingly highlighted the limits of possible growth and the resilience of our municipality and the entire Wörthersee region. Various accompanying effects of the automotive event have led to growing criticism and decreasing acceptance of the annual meeting. The restrictions in the pandemic years have caused the GTI Meeting to be canceled three times. The effects of climate change, the responsibility of political decision-makers for preserving ecosystems, and the need to align actions at all levels with the principles of sustainability make it necessary to redefine future development under new premises.

Based on these considerations, we state that the municipality of Maria Wörth will not host conventional automotive major events in the coming years.

Reifnitz 2030 - Sustainable Living by the Lake

In recent years, the municipality of Maria Wörth has conducted intensive concept and planning work for shaping the future of the Reifnitz district and initiated a comprehensive transformation process. In the coming years, as part of the implementation of the local development program "Reifnitz 2030 | Sustainable Living by the Lake," some areas previously used for major events will be given a new purpose, and new facilities will be created.

Mayor Markus Perdacher: "In the spirit of Localhood, we are working to create attractive and sustainable living spaces that benefit all people who are in the community, whether they spend a few days there or a lifetime."

The mayor of Maria Wörth remains open to future developments after the municipality's withdrawal from the GTI Meeting: "We are happy to consider proposals and ideas for events in our community in the future but will assess the extent to which they align with our concepts of social and ecological compatibility and meet high sustainability standards. In this sense, we continue to engage in dialogue with the mobility industry, which, like us as a municipality, must take into account the profound shift towards ecology and sustainability.

Update October 2023! After all this sad news we can also share the good news now. Volkswagen has confirmed that they will bring the GTI home. This means that they will organize a GTI Meeting in Wolfsburg, close to the factory. We have a special topic dedicated to this wonderful news.
